Burnout 2: Point of Impact is the first sequel to the racing game Burnout and builds upon this strong speed-driven franchise with improved gameplay, new game options and bigger, better and more insane crashes. Players can test their nerves and skills by taking to the air, sliding through corners, and swerving to avoid head-on collisions, while filling their meter to unleash a burst of speed previously exclusive to airplanes. In addition to an offensive driving 101, Burnout 2 features a four-player crash mode, six different locations with 30 stages, realistic weather effects, and 14 cars (plus hidden ones).

Emulation Information

16:9

Burnout 2: Point of Impact has a native 16:9 display option, but it requires enabling it in its internal options and setting Dolphin's Aspect Ratio graphics setting to "Force 16:9". Using the widescreen hack with this title is not recommended.

Problems

Broken Aspect Ratio Detection

Since 5.0-5874, the aspect ratio for this title will flicker wildly between 4:3 and 16:9 when in the Select Car screen. This can be worked around by setting aspect ratio to "Force 4:3" or "Force 16:9". See issue 10800.

Low-Resolution Vehicle Textures

Certain vehicles in-game can render with low resolution textures. This is a bug in the GameCube version of the game. But, Dolphin seems to also have a bug with rendering those affected textures. See issue 7708. Fixed in 5.0-1487.

Configuration

Only configuration options for the best compatibility where they deviate from defaults are listed.
