"Tested On" categories?

Has there been a real use case with these categories? Lucario (talk) 23:20, 10 July 2017 (CEST)

I personally liked using them when I was testing a lot of games to know what to prioritize, but I know one person using the feature a year or two ago isn't really enough to warrant the category clutter. On the topic of which one to keep if they were trimmed down, I went back and looked at how old these revisions really were that the categories were picking up. As of right now:
  • 500 revisions = 1 month
  • 1000 revisions = 2 months
  • 2500 revisions = 5 months, 1 week
  • 5000 revisions = 1 year, 3 months
  • 10000 revisions = 2 years, 7 months
Considering that we have functionality that updates for 1/2/3 star ratings that have been untested for only 4 months, cutting down to 5000 revisions or 10000 revisions here seems a bit excessive. Though I agree that 500/1000 seem a bit pointless. - Xerxes (talk) 22:47, 12 July 2017 (CEST)
It felt like a trivial statistic and motivation killer. Dolphin revision number has been increasing rapidly and the testers won't be able to catch up with every game last tested on the 10,000+ revision old Dolphin build. It's usually either that titles that have never been tested, or haven't been tested for looong time, they can also keep their favorite titles frequently up to date if they so choose. I think 10000+ alone is enough but I was kind of reluctant with removing all but one so I let 2500+ (actually should've been 5000+) slide. Also, I was referring to hardware tested categories when I ask about these "Tested on" categories. Lucario (talk) 04:17, 13 July 2017 (CEST)
