EA Sports Active: NFL Training Camp includes over 70 drills and challenges designed to improve strength, power and conditioning, as well as reaction skills, agility and first step quickness, which are key areas NFL players focus on. Users can choose their favorite team, step into a stadium and train alongside their favorite players.

Emulation Information

Using EA Active Heart-rate Monitor and Ankle Motion Detector

This is very similar to using the official GameCube Adapter for Wii U in Dolphin. Follow the guide there, except select "EA Sports Active(tm) (c) 2010 Electronic Arts Inc." instead of the Nintendo GameCube Adapter.

Wii Balance Board

This title supports Wii Balance Board, though no emulation is provided for the Wii Balance Board. The real Wii Balance Board may be required to access some features.

  • In Bluetooth Passthrough mode, a Balance Board can be synced just like any Wii Remote, without any special configuration. Refer to the article for details.
  • Otherwise, set the Balance Board option in the Controller Configuration dialog from "None" to "Real Balance Board". Then press the red "Sync" button in the battery compartment of the balance board, and press "Refresh" if Continuous Scanning is disabled. There is no fast sync (Wii Remote 1+2) in the Balance Board, so the sync button must be used each time.

Problems

VP6 Videos

EA Sports Active: NFL Training Camp uses the VP6 video codec, common in Electronic Arts' titles, causing its videos to have vertical line artifacts and other glitches on many graphics cards. The Software Render will display VP6 video correctly, but is typically too slow. VP6 rendering also reacts poorly to the Force Texture Filtering enhancements (and Anisotropic Filtering on NVIDIA), causing further scrambling. See issue 7193. In 5.0-15515 or newer, this can be fixed with "Manual Texture Sampling" in the Graphics Settings → Advanced menu.

Testing

This title has been tested on the environments listed below:

Test Entries
Revision OS CPU GPU Result Tester
4.0-8721 Windows 7 Intel Core i5-3570K @ 3.8GHZ NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 Works well. EA VP6 video bugs are abundant, but using Zadig, we override the dongle's drivers with the WinUSB driver, and Dolphin does the rest. This allows the heartrate monitor and ankle motion bracelet to work properly. JMC47
