'''''Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles''''', Square's first game for a Nintendo console since the days of the SNES, takes the lush fantasy world from the ''Final Fantasy'' franchise and adds in hack-and-slash-style four-player action. The game does away with traditional experience points and instead focuses on action-oriented combat with a unique co-op slant. Up to three friends can join in on the quest, by using Game Boy Advance units connected to the GameCube as controllers. While all the main action takes place on the screen, the GBAs enable the players to access menus, organize their spell spheres, and perform upgrades without slowing down the action. The initial release of this game included a GBA Cable to allow players instant access to the game.

=== Multiplayer Support via VBA ===
Multiplayer support via Visual Boy Advance connectivity works. But characters will not stop jittering/hitching on multiplayer mode, also attacks and magic can not be charged up and released. Refer {{issue|9528}}.

To set up multiplayer with VBA-M, follow these steps.
=== Game Boy Advance <-> GameCube Connectivity ===
*Download the [http://sourceforge.net/projects/vbam/files/latest/download?source=files latest VBA-M svn].
This title supports GameBoy Advance connection, which can be used via joybus emulation. As of {{revision|5.0-14690}} Dolphin now has mGBA built in for GBA connectivity features. Simply set a GBA (Integrated) to the controllers you wish to connect and ensure you have a GBA BIOS configured in the Options -> Configuration -> GameCube and everything else with connecting will be handled automatically.
*Dump your gba_bios.bin, and enable it in VBA-M (Options > Game Boy Advance > Configure > Boot ROM)

*Enable BIOS File use VBA-M (Options > Game Boy Advance > Use BIOS File)
If you wish to use standalone GBA emulators for connectivity, you still can through the GBA (TCP) setting.  mGBA 0.9.0 or newer and the latest VBA-M SVNs should be supported.  Please follow each emulator's instructions for Joybus connectivity in order to connect to Dolphin.
*Disable "Pause when inactive" in VBA-M (Emulation)

*Enable Local Mode (Options > Link > Local Mode)
=== Dual Core Netplay/Input Recording Hangs ===
*Enable Link at boot (Options > Link > Link at boot)

*Use the GameCube link type (Options > Link > Type > GameCube)
While most games that do not support Dolphin's "fake-completion" Dual Core simply do not boot, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles boots and appears to work fine. Unfortunately, throughout the game extreme bouts of permanent lag will occur, which will essentially hang the game.  To avoid this, Dual Core must be disabled when playing on Netplay or creating Input Recordings.
*In the Dolphin configuration, go to the "Controllers" section and select "GBA" for the port input

*Start the game in Dolphin
Dual Core in other situations is fine.
*Now load the gba_bios.bin, in the same way you would load a normal gba-game (File > Open)
*Enable Turbo Mode in VBA (Emulation > Turbo mode), otherwise the game will run at ~8% speed
*Now just wait until it connects.

Emulation Information

Game Boy Advance <-> GameCube Connectivity

This title supports GameBoy Advance connection, which can be used via joybus emulation. As of 5.0-14690 Dolphin now has mGBA built in for GBA connectivity features. Simply set a GBA (Integrated) to the controllers you wish to connect and ensure you have a GBA BIOS configured in the Options -> Configuration -> GameCube and everything else with connecting will be handled automatically.

Dual Core Netplay/Input Recording Hangs

While most games that do not support Dolphin's "fake-completion" Dual Core simply do not boot, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles boots and appears to work fine. Unfortunately, throughout the game extreme bouts of permanent lag will occur, which will essentially hang the game. To avoid this, Dual Core must be disabled when playing on Netplay or creating Input Recordings.

Dual Core in other situations is fine.

Problems

VBA Support

VBA connectivity may be broken since 5.0-5018. Refer issue 7098.

Goblin Wall

As of 5.0-540, the Goblin Wall level is impossible to clear. After defeating the Goblin King and responding to the subsequent letter received via Mogmail, the screen goes black and audio seems to stutter. Earlier versions of Dolphin can progress past that point, but save files created after that point will have a corrupt header and cannot be loaded. Refer issue 9915. Fixed by 5.0-13242.

Enhancements

16:9 Aspect Ratio Fix

The built-in Widescreen Hack causes clipping/culling issues. The following AR codes work as a replacement. To avoid conflicts, make sure that Widescreen Hack is disabled while using these codes
