Ganbare Goemon 2 is a sequel of Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Dōchū, and puts you back in the shoes of Goemon as he traverses feudal Japan looking to bring justice to any corrupt baddies he may find. Joining Goemon in his adventure is the wacky ninja Ebisumaru which allows for simultaneous 2-player gameplay, marking the biggest difference in terms of gameplay with the original. The game keeps the straightforward side-scrolling beat 'em up formula and even removes some of the maze-like elements in the previous game, adding new weapons and upgrades to make the game more action-oriented. Wandering through the stages is still possible and you can enter several stores and locations and trigger amusing humorous sequences keeping in tone with the lighthearted spirit of the series.

NES Global Problems

[edit]

Problems that may occur with any NES title on Dolphin are listed below.

DirectX with NES Games

Most NES games suffer strange graphical issues when using the DirectX backend with some graphics drivers; notably NVIDIA. This is a driver bug.

As of 5.0-4869, the D3D driver bugs can be worked around by setting Ubershaders to Exclusive/Synchronous (Ubershaders). It's unknown what exactly is going on with the driver that's causing Exclusive Ubershaders/Synchronous (Ubershaders) to work properly.

This seems to have been rectified at some point, though it's unclear what resolved it.

Emulation Information

Famicom Microphone Support

As controllers supported by the official Japanese Wii Virtual Console releases did not have microphones, the original Famicom version's support for blowing into Player 2's microphone lacks the hardware to do so. Instead, the microphone functionality is mapped on Classic Controller and GameCube Controller to holding down L while rotating the right control stick. The Wii Remote sideways has no such mapping.

Problems

This title does not have any additional game-specific problems.
