With the emulator's default options, the font for kanji can display extremely thin (1 pixel) as opposed to it showing properly as a thick font with grey pixels around the edges. This is a problem with Dolphin's included font files, which in the stable {{revision|4.0.2}} release are low resolution and may be hard to read. As of {{revision|4.0-5097}}, the Japanese fonts have been replaced by the free Droid Sans Japanese font (released under the [http://raw.githubusercontent.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/fdce69473d7dc07e054953f7576f0533fdd83d17/Data/Sys/GC/font-licenses.txt Apache 2 license]) which is much closer to the look of the original hardware, and can be downloaded [http://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/blob/fdce69473d7dc07e054953f7576f0533fdd83d17/Data/Sys/GC/font_sjis.bin?raw=true here] for use with any revision. Optionally, for pixel-perfect kanji display you can rip fonts from your own console by following the instructions [http://wikiwiki.jp/gcwiiemu/?Tips_Font_Improvement here].

GiFTPiA is a video game that was developed by Skip Ltd. for the Nintendo GameCube. It was released in Japan on April 25, 2003. Despite the fact its last showing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was in English, Nintendo cancelled the North American localization of GiFTPiA. In English, the game's title would be better understood as "Giftopia" to represent the two words, gift and utopia.

Font Problems

Until 4.0-5097 the default kanji font display extremely thin (1 pixel) as opposed to showing as a thick font with grey pixels around the edges. This was a problem with Dolphin's font files, which prior to 4.0-5097 are low resolution and may be hard to read. As of 4.0-5097, the Japanese fonts have been replaced by the free Droid Sans Japanese font (released under the Apache 2 license) which is much closer to the look of the original hardware, and can be downloaded here for use with any revision.

Though closer to the Wii fonts the Droid Sans Japanese font is not the same. For pixel-perfect kanji display you can rip fonts from a Wii by following the instructions here.

Testing

This title has been tested on the environments listed below:

Test Entries
Revision OS CPU GPU Result Tester
3.0-204 Windows 7 x64 Intel Core i5-760 @ 2.8GHz ATI Radeon HD 5770 Fairly solid 25-30 FPS, some specific effects cause notable strain but seems to be CPU based strain. As noted above kanji is rendered with the internal SJIS font and can be difficult to read.
4.0-4474 Linux Ubuntu 14.04 Intel Core i3-3220 @ 3.3GHz nVidia GeForce GTX 650 Couldn't get very far because I can't speak Japanese. 100% speed with default settings. Everything I played was perfect as far as I can tell (compared to a longplay on youtube), except for the strange-looking kanji characters. Audio is accurate with HLE. Xerxes
4.0-5099 Linux Ubuntu 14.10 Intel Core i3-3220 @ 3.3GHz nVidia GeForce GTX 650 Same as above but kanji looks much better as of 4.0-5097. Perfect as far as I can tell. Xerxes
