MaxPlay Classic Games Volume 1 is an unofficial video game compilation made by Datel, known for the Action Replay series of cheat devices, and the only published unlicensed game for the Nintendo GameCube. Despite the title, there is no evidence of a second volume ever being made. The collection features ten games, all unofficial remakes of classic games:

  • Invaders
  • Loop the Loop
  • Dragon Tiles 3
  • Bounty Hunter X
  • Chopper 2
  • Jet Pack 2
  • Paddle Panic
  • Pop 'Em
  • Proxima
  • Super Power Shot

Emulation Information

Datel Disc Bootup

On top of being difficult to rip, Datel GameCube discs require the official GameCube BIOS in order to boot. DSP-LLE is also required for the games to boot properly. Without these requirements fulfilled, Dolphin will crash.

Problems

FIFO Error

Generates a "FIFO is overflowed by GatherPipe ! CPU thread is too fast!" error at start-up. With Dual Core mode pressing "Yes" on that dialog should allow the game to start. If using Single Core mode errors may repeat until an Unknown Opcode error are seen and the game hangs. Refer issue 8175.

Incorrect BAT error

When exiting out of certain games, Dolphin will throw an error "Incorrect BAT. Dolphin will now close." and promptly crash. To avoid, do not exit the games using the built-in Z + Start option. See issue 9333, now resolved.

Configuration

Only configuration options for the best compatibility where they deviate from defaults are listed.

Testing

This title has been tested on the environments listed below:

Test Entries
Revision OS CPU GPU Result Tester
4.0-8892 Windows 7 Intel Core i5-3570K @ 3.8GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 I had to modify the emulator to prevent random hangs, but beyond that, all of the subgames now work. Unfortunately, Dolphin can crash with Incorrect BAT error upon trying to exit back to the menu. JMC47
5.0-6004 Windows 10 Intel Core i7-6700K @ 4.5GHz NVIDIA GeForce 970 x2 Requires GC Bios / LLE / error skip to start. With single core mode errors are worse, eventually resulting in a hang. Kolano
