The Game

Metroid Prime is an action-packed adventure set in the first-person perspective that takes place just after the events in the original Metroid (NES). It has lead character Samus Aran, a bounty hunter by trade, chasing down the evil Space Pirates. Their intention is to use a genetic mutagen called Phazon to create a super army and take over the universe. While the installments in the series before have never been home to deeply involving storylines, Metroid Prime breaks the shell to offer up one of the most intriguing and read-worthy sagas yet. Developed by Texas-based Retro Studios. Metroid Prime brings all of the elements of the acclaimed franchise into a gaping 3D arena.

Emulation Status & Speed:

Is the game completible ?:

The game is fully supported and playable, you can play the whole game and complete it.

The game requires incredible CPU-Speed because of it's awesome graphics.

You will have to turn "Use safe texture cache" on to play it, if you don't Dolphin will crash at several places.

What does not work ?:

- Mp1 sometimes frezzes (It is extremely rare but will happen sometimes regardless of settings)

- Sometimes serveral sounds don´t play

- Huge slowdown in big areas / when opening doors or enemies appear

- Also too much or too heavy (EFB-)Effects slow down a lot

- Mp1 sometimes freezes loading savestates made with "Shift + F1/F2/F3..."

(Sometimes music stops playing only background music is working then or the water becomes purple (Also other colors). Seems not to be stable yet.

- Sometimes black textures when "Copy EFB to GL texture" is used

- Sky becomes black when the room "Alcove" is opened (Where you get Space-Jump-Boots) The normal sky appears when the room is closed again.

- There is a graphic bug with rain falling on the spaceship or on Samus weapon.

(Broken since r4322 "OpenGL: commit rodolfoosvaldobogado's speedup patches.")

- Some cinematics are broken (Those who start when doing nothing in the title menu)

- Broken Thermal & X-Ray visor when "Copy EFB to GL texture" is used

- Fog isn´t working properly

Configuration & Settings for Metroid Prime:

- Audio Backend (Yes/DSound)

- Volume (100%)

- Antialias (Yes/16xQ CSAA or the best your graphic card can provide without slowing down the emulator)

- Post processing shader (If you want choose one or make your own)

Graphics (Advanced):

- Overlay FPS (If you want to see how fast the game runs / Fullspeed in games is mostly 30,50, or 60 FPS) <--- Mp1 fullspeed = 60 Fps

- Show shader compilation issues (No)

- Overlay some statistics (No)

- Overlay Projection Stats (No)

- Show EFB Copy Regions (No)

- Overlay texture format (No) ---> centered (No)

- Disable Fog (No)

Efb copy:

- Disable (No)

- Choose "Copy EFB to system Ram" or "Copy EFB to GL texture" <--- FPS Boost !

("Copy EFB to system Ram" works perfect but "Copy EFB to GL texture" is faster. With "Copy EFB to GL texture" you sometimes get some black textures,

just switch back to "Copy EFB to system Ram" for a second and the textures will appear or just ignore them. Remember it also breaks Thermal & X-Ray visor)

Utlities:

- Dump textures (No)

- Dump Rendered Frames (No)

- Load Hires textures (No)

(Fixes Crash after landing with the ship on the space station and several other places, also fixes Broken text´s)

("Fast" = FPS Boost compared to "Normal" or "Safe" but does the same job in this case here)
