Customize your car, take corners at 200 mph, and own your opponents. Need for Speed: Nitro delivers the fun and exhilaration of high-speed racing with deep and challenging gameplay, where racing skills are not the only way to victory. Master advanced techniques such as building up boost by taking risks on the road, then use it at the right moment to take the lead. But don’t forget about the cops, who will do everything they can to disrupt the race. And for the ultimate bragging rights, impose your graphical style on the world when you lead.
Need for Speed: Nitro is capable of using both GameCube controllers and Wii Remotes. If a physical controller is set to emulate both a GameCube Controller and a Wii Remote concurrently, it will operate both devices at the same time. To fix, migrate controls to use separate physical controllers.
Need for Speed: Nitro uses the VP6 video codec, common in Electronic Arts' titles, causing its videos to have vertical line artifacts and other glitches on many graphics cards. The Software Render will display VP6 video correctly, but is typically too slow. VP6 rendering also reacts poorly to the Force Texture Filtering enhancements (and Anisotropic Filtering on NVIDIA), causing further scrambling. See issue 7193. In 5.0-15515 or newer, this can be fixed with "Manual Texture Sampling" in the Graphics Settings -> Advanced menu.
Only configuration options for the best compatibility where they deviate from defaults are listed.
Config | Setting | Notes |
---|---|---|
Manual Texture Sampling | On | Render VP6 video |
