Evil (2002 video game) Wikipedia page

Resident Evil, known in Japan as Biohazard, is a survival horror video game by Capcom. The inaugural title and first installment in the Resident Evil series, it was originally released in 1996 for the PlayStation and has subsequently been ported to the Sega Saturn and PC. In 2002, a remake of the game was released for the Nintendo GameCube featuring new graphics, locations, new voice acting and many significant gameplay changes.

A near straight port was released for the Wii in 2009 under the title Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil.

Problems

Sound issues

  • Unsynchronized speech occurs in some cut scenes.
  • Saving/loading save states will cause sound to stop working.
  • Sound glitches.
  • BGM wont play sometimes even using xaudio2.

Improper Z Order

Sometimes Chris's model will overlap foreground elements it shouldn't.

Slowdowns

  • Slowdowns occur in rooms with big fluttering background objects on screen (candle flames, leaves, waterfalls).
  • Cut-scenes are most prone to slowing, where characters are shown in closeup. Lips will mismatch the speech.
  • Freezes at start for some reason.
  • In main hall or/and the birdcage, to fix it just put the EFB copy to texture.

Final videos

Jill's final videos (flyaway and credits) play normally only in the best ending. Other endings drop squares and may hang the emulator.

Configuration

Only configuration options for the best compatibility where they deviate from defaults are listed.
