Sometimes a heavy speed reduction may occur in random zones (after near 1 hour of playing) which cause sound and graphic stuttering. If saving and restart the emulator the problem zone work good again.

The thermal scope you pick up in the operating room cannot be used as vision is all fuzzy and unclear. You can correct this by switching from EFB Texture to EFB RAM. Seems to be fixed in unknown revision after 4.0.2.
This game uses a feature known as PerfCounters. Using emulator features such as savestates can cause this feature to glitch out, making the game run incredibly slow. There is no known solution to this quirk.  Restarting the game after a normal save will remedy the slowdown.

=== <s>Crashes in Castle</s> ===
=== Dark Stripes ===
When in the castle there is this puzzle soon after the first mini-boss where you and Ashley have to stand on two button switches. The game consistently freezes when your character walks to the right button switch. This hang only affects the JIT recompiler engine, so two options are available: (1) switch to the JITIL recompiler for this one part, or (2) get Ashley to step on the plate instead. Fixed by {{revision|4.0-1706}}.

=== Thunderstorm Slowdown ===
Some textures like water and Ramon Salazar (boss) may have strange dark stripes on them. To avoid this issue don't set IR to Auto with OpenGL and disable Fast Depth Calculation with Vulkan.
The thunderstorm chapters have considerable speed reduction especially during the heavy rain.

Resident Evil 4, known in Japan as Biohazard 4 (バイオハザード4 Baiohazādo Fō), is a survival horror video game developed by Capcom Production Studio 4 and published by Capcom and Nintendo for the Nintendo GameCube. The story follows Leon S. Kennedy, who is sent on a mission to rescue Ashley Graham, the President's daughter, who has been kidnapped by a mysterious cult. Traveling to a rural village in Europe, he encounters a horde of violent villagers who pledge their lives to the cult.

Unlike previous games in the series, Resident Evil 4 has stronger focus on combat, with many more enemies to deal with. As such, it uses a new third person, over the shoulder combat system for easier aiming. Other changes to the game include context sensitive actions to interact with the environment, and quick-time event cutscenes.

RE4 was ported to the Wii with Resident Evil 4: Wii edition, with new Wii Remote based aiming controls and extra content from other platforms.

Problems

Intro Text Rendering

The line "Six years later" at the intro doesn't appear correctly (by three letters instead of by one). This can be corrected by setting the texture cache slider to safe.

PerfCounters

This game uses a feature known as PerfCounters. Using emulator features such as savestates can cause this feature to glitch out, making the game run incredibly slow. There is no known solution to this quirk. Restarting the game after a normal save will remedy the slowdown.

Dark Stripes

Some textures like water and Ramon Salazar (boss) may have strange dark stripes on them. To avoid this issue don't set IR to Auto with OpenGL and disable Fast Depth Calculation with Vulkan.
