SSX Tricky is a snowboarding video game, the second game in the SSX series published and developed by EA Canada. In SSX, players choose one of several varied characters, participate in races or trick competitions, and earn rewards. The game's sequels are SSX 3, SSX on Tour, SSX Blur, and SSX: Deadly Descents. It is named after Run-D.M.C.'s "It's Tricky", which is featured throughout the game.

Emulation Information

16:9

SSX Tricky has a native 16:9 display option, but it requires enabling it in its internal options and setting Dolphin's Aspect Ratio graphics setting to "Auto". Using the widescreen hack with this title is not recommended. This title's "16:9" option will outputs a 16:9 image on a 4:3 display and is generally not desirable, the "Animorphic" option will display widescreen output appropriately.

Problems

Crash

When starting the game, Dolphin raises an assertion error in VertexShaderGen.cpp at the line _assert_(bpmem.genMode.numtexgens == xfmem.numTexGen.numTexGens); it is currently unknown what causes this. Refer issue 9930.

Fast Disc Freezes

When using the setting "Speed Up Disc Transfer Rate," this game can occasionally freeze on loading screens. Normally this is defaulted to off, however you can change it in the game's properties.

Configuration

Only configuration options for the best compatibility where they deviate from defaults are listed.

Testing

This title has been tested on the environments listed below:

Test Entries
Revision OS CPU GPU Result Tester
3.0-161 Windows 7 Intel Core i7 @ 2.67GHz NVIDIA GeForce 560 Ti Playable, minor slowdown in many places Blinity
3.0-776 Windows 7 Intel Core i7-2670QM @ 2.2GHz NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Playable, has some minor slowdowns but mostly runs too fast unless audio is used for syncing however, looking at the sun will destroy framerate (can't specify a way to correct this, it differs from GFX card to GFX card). Speedytech7
4.0-3599 Windows 7 Intel Core i5-4690K @ 4.2GHz AMD Radeon HD 7750 Perfect. 2x Native, 4x AA, 16x AF, LLE on thread Keller999
4.0-4480 Ubuntu 14.04 Intel Core i3-3220 @ 3.3GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Stutters/freezes occasionally with default settings, but perfectly playable with Skip EFB Access enabled. Finished 5 or 6 missions and everything was fine. However, if you have Real XFB turned on and Dual Core turned on at the same time, when you start the game Dolphin will hang and have to be closed using System Monitor or equivalent. Either one or the other is okay, just don't use both at the same time. HLE audio perfect. Xerxes
