SSX Tricky is a snowboarding video game, the second game in the SSX series published and developed by EA Canada. In SSX, players choose one of several varied characters, participate in races or trick competitions, and earn rewards. The game's sequels are SSX 3, SSX on Tour, SSX Blur, and SSX: Deadly Descents. It is named after Run-D.M.C.'s "It's Tricky", which is featured throughout the game.

Problems

16:9

This game has 16:9 display capability, but requires setting the game to "Widescreen" mode in the game's internal options, and setting Dolphin's Aspect Ratio to "Force 16:9". Using the widescreen hack is not recommended, as it will cause graphical glitches.

Fast Disc Freezes

When using the setting "Speed Up Disc Transfer Rate," this game can occasionally freeze on loading screens. Normally this is defaulted to off, however you can change it in the game's properties.

Configuration

Only configuration options for the best compatibility where they deviate from defaults are listed.

General

Config Setting Notes
Enable Dual Core Off Causes crashes if using Real XFB

Graphics

Config Setting Notes
Widescreen Hack Off SSX Tricky has native widescreen support; using the hack can cause graphical issues
Skip EFB Access from CPU On Corrects issue where any time the sun is in view framerate drops to single-digits

Testing

This title has been tested on the environments listed below:

Test Entries
Revision OS CPU GPU Result Tester
3.0-161 Windows 7 x86 Intel Core i7 @ 2.67GHz NVIDIA GeForce 560 Ti Playable, minor slowdown in many places Blinity
3.0-776 Windows 7 x64 Intel Core i7-2670QM @ 2.2GHz NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Playable, has some minor slowdowns but mostly runs too fast unless audio is used for syncing however, looking at the sun will destroy framerate (can't specify a way to correct this, it differs from GFX card to GFX card). Speedytech7
4.0-3599 Windows 7 x64 Intel Core i5-4690K @ 4.2GHz AMD Radeon HD 7750 Perfect. 2x Native, 4x AA, 16x AF, LLE on thread Keller999
4.0-4480 Linux Ubuntu 14.04 Intel Core i3-3220 @ 3.3GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Stutters/freezes occasionally with default settings, but perfectly playable with Skip EFB Access enabled. Finished 5 or 6 missions and everything was fine. However, if you have Real XFB turned on and Dual Core turned on at the same time, when you start the game Dolphin will hang and have to be closed using System Monitor or equivalent. Either one or the other is okay, just don't use both at the same time. HLE audio perfect. Xerxes
