Sonic Gems Collection is a second collection of classic Sonic The Hedgehog games, with nine total games (and some secret games) which include Sonic CD, Sonic R, Sonic the Fighters and more. Also included is a Museum Mode of Sonic history.

Emulation Information

Depth Fighting and Other Issues

Because these games have been ported from other consoles, especially with Sonic R and Sonic The Fighters there may be emulation defects present that also happen on console.

Sonic The Fighters Emeralds

The Emeralds at the bottom of Sonic The Fighters flicker wildly. This is a bug in the game and not a bug in Dolphin.

Problems

Corrupt Text

The text for some users appear corrupt, either not showing some letters until random points it decides to load, or just being plain corrupt. Setting Texture Cache Accuracy to Safe fixes the issue. Dolphin now sets Texture Cache Accuracy to Safe by default for this game.

Enhancements

Sonic R 16:9

Sonic R has major clipping issues with the Widescreen Hack that can be solved using a Gecko Code. Make sure to disable the Widescreen Hack when using this Gecko Code.

Testing

This title has been tested on the environments listed below:

Test Entries
Revision OS Version CPU GPU Result Tester
r6091 Windows Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465 Almost perfect emulation of Sonic R (glitches on sides of video are due to Widescreen hack). Sonic R (Sonic Gems version) on Dolphin R6091 soundspark
3.0 Windows 7 Intel Pentium TS4500 @ 2.3GHz Intel GMA 4500MHD Perfect but Sound skipping/overlapping during menus every few minutes, Vectorman has the same issues as well. Xiao Lu
3.0 Windows 7 Intel Pentium TS4500 @ 2.3GHz Intel GMA 4500MHD Perfect but Sound skipping/overlapping during menus every few minutes, Vectorman has the same issues as well. Xiao Lu
3.0-692 Windows 7 AMD Phenom II X4 810 Processor ATI Radeon HD 4600 Works fine, but the game is around 40-50FPS, it goes to 60FPS when playing the games. The text is about 100% corrupt. After exiting a game, the text gets more corrupt. The "Tails' Skypatrol" text after exiting a game is hurtful for some people. Goldtex
4.0 Windows 8 Intel Core i7 @ 2.2GHz Intel HD Graphics 4000 Run perfectly well. All games play identically to the console version. The only issue is the missing text problem that is still present, and no configuration can fix this bug. Does not prevent playability, however. OMGWEEGEE2
4.0-2460 Windows 7 AMD Phenom II X4 B50 @ 3.2GHz NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX Runs very good with 59-60FPS but the Text is corrupt. Sonic the Fighters isn't playable (no plan why) Creepario
4.0-7429 Windows 10 AMD FX-8350 @ 4GHz AMD Radeon R9 280X Both Sonic CD and R run fine, Sonic the Fighters is unplayable. GameGear emulation works fine. PAL versions are limited to 50FPS due to lack of a 60Hz mode. Alpha284
4.0-7840 Windows 10 Intel Core i5-3570K @ 3.4GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 Black screen for Sonic The Fighters, but disabling Store EFB Copies to Texture Only under Graphics > Hacks fixes Sonic The Fighters. But trust me, you don't want to fix that game. HydratedMewtwo
