Unconfirmed ID

GameTDB gives SERF4Q for this game's French release, however the French cover has ID prefix SERP, making the ID questionable. Also I can't find a Korean back cover scan for SERK4Q. - Xerxes (talk) 15:29, 10 June 2017 (CEST)

It would appear someone from the Dolphin team created a specific INI for it since back on version 3.5-1...

...so I'm guessing it does exist, but still unclear I guess. Kolano (talk) 18:03, 10 June 2017 (CEST)

Hmm... well, notice first of all that between the three INIs, there's no change, it's just generic settings for the game. There's nothing particular about the F region that would suggest to me that it had any special consideration. Also I'm taking into account that around 3.5-1, the game was still pretty new when these IDs were added. I thought about it a bit, and then I decided to check and see if GameTDB had put up IDs for these games within that time frame trying to pin-point if their SERF4Q entry predates the INI. (Note that it seems like the archive.org crawler failed on some of the earliest crawls, but it still crawled the URLs on these dates meaning that references to them existed.)

  • SERF4Q first crawled in November 2012.
  • SERE4Q first crawled in November 2012.
  • SERP4Q first crawled in November 2012.

So it turns out that GameTDB had these listings up almost immediately after the game came out, the same three IDs for the game used in Dolphin with the suspicious SERF4Q listing, and also missing the SERV4Q listing (but who really knows when that came out). So, if Dolphin were to have added these IDs mechanically off of GameTDB's list at the time for a brand new game, it's very possible that the mistake is GameTDB's and it's just carried on to this day with nobody checking that closely. I also thought about fringe possibilities like a box misprint (unlikely since it's printed 3 times on the back) or a second French release (why?) but I don't think those are very likely. - Xerxes (talk) 19:33, 10 June 2017 (CEST)
