Platforms Update Project
I've been wanting to do an update to the platforms pages for a while. For months, every time I go to the Gamecube or Wii pages, I see the pixelated pictures in the infobox and cringe. They were meant as thumbnails for the mainpage, scaling them up like that just makes for some baaad results. Add in how out of date all the VC pages are, and how they don't have any infoboxes, and I have my first big project here. Here's the goals of the project.
- Replace the main page thumbnails for GC and Wii (see below)
- Update the GC and Wii infobox pictures (see below)
- Add infoboxes for all the various platforms, and for VC, Wiiware, and Channel pages.
- Update the VC releases with all new releases
- Add original release date column to the VC tables (gulp, I may skip that, that would be a TON of work)
Here's some details.
Update the Mainpage Thumbnails
One thing that bugs me about the mainpage is that the GameCube and Wii thumbnails are systems, but the WiiWare, Wii Channels, and VC thumbnails are all logos. So, using the GCN and Wii logos would make it line up, and I think it looks better, imo.
I used just the GCN logo itself for the GCN thumbnail, but I could include the text. I don't like it as much, personally, the double text thing is weird. HERE is a mockup to show it.
Update platform infobox pictures
OK, first thing to note, is that I want to use 300x300 pictures on the various infoboxes for the platforms. Next, they would all use pictures from Wikipedia Commons (thank you Evan Amos!) or press shots. Here's some GCN and wii infobox mockups to show how it would look.
It's going to be alot of work and I'm kinda busy so, I'm going to be nibbling away at it whenever I can in the coming days/weeks. If anyone wants to help out feel free to. If anyone has any comments or suggestions let me know.
