Redirect Updates
Sorry to have revised some of your recent redirects. Can you provide some info on your sources / reasons for the updates. Some of the redirects that were cleared seem to be indicated as GameIDs from sources like GameTDB. Kolano (talk) 08:09, 20 September 2015 (CEST)
- First I apologize for making you confused and sorry about my editing style, I should have just "add" or "move" redirect links, not "delete" old one.
- So, back on topic, GameID.
- For some reason, Unique ID(first 3 letters) or Publisher ID(last 2 letters) of games changed often at releasing in Japan.
- For example. (attached my photo for correctness)
- /// Changed Unique ID ///
- GR8*69 → GRZJ13 (MoH:Rising Sun)
- Properties redump link Disc Image Package Image
- GCI*69 → G4PJ13 (The Sims)
- Properties redump link Disc Image Package Image
- Also Spirits & Spells, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III, Universal Studios Adventure or maybe 2 more 3 titles have another UniqueID.
- /// Changed Publisher ID ///
- GKF*GG → GKFJMS (Chaos Field)
- Properties redump link
- Other good example, many of EA Games Publisher ID "69" has been changed to "13" in Japan. Like NBA Street one.
- Why GameTDB.com have wrong ID of Japanese title? I have no idea...
- Thanks Dan, I'm glad to see your additions were well sourced. I'm still a bit uncomfortable with the redirect removals though. I'm not sure if they are wrong, or if some titles may have more IDs than expected (i.e. multiple discs for MoH:Rising Sun, multiple release versions, etc.). I restored the purged ones, so I think things should be OK, but please re-purge/fix things if you can confirm them as being bogus. However, I believe the redirects were initially populated by a script based on a dataset of GameIDs that had actually been seen by Dolphin, so again I'd hope most of the pre-existing ones have some support.
