Image Template -Thumbnail Size

How does one control image size with the Image Template? The documentation doesn't say. And can the video gallery and youtube templates do it as well? - MaJoR (talk) 07:14, 15 November 2012 (CET)

It's hardcoded in the template... You'll need to change it directly in the template source code (here is the source of Image template). The video gallery just embed youtube template, so, to change video thumbnail size you only need to edit the source code of YouTube template, the changes will be automatically reflected in the Video Gallery. If necessary, I could add an option to override the hardcoded value through the 4th parameter, from both Image and YouTube template, but the best would be having the standard size (that haven't been defined yet) hardcoded directly in the templates, avoiding unnecessary parameters...
Also, to prevent breaking up the truncate caption function, you'll need to change 2 tags in the source (both youtube and image): the first parameter (currently at 300px) need to be changed to the desired size (for example, 200px). The second parameter (currently set at 275px) need to be changed to the desired size minus 25px (from the 200px example, this should be 175px -- 200px minus 25px)

Well, if we are going to have a smaller thumbnail size for screenshots, an option to change the size of the screenshots on the fly would allow us to revert back to the standard image size for other things, like bug images. But I guess it isn't really necessary; the point of the template is to make big changes across the board easily, and we don't need that for bug images. We could just set the screenshot thumbnail size in the template straight up. Thanks - MaJoR (talk) 02:31, 16 November 2012 (CET)

I'd think an additional "type" parameter might work best. We'd default to screenshot size, but then allow alternate sizes for other types of images, and would be able to set the size across them easily (which I believe is the whole point of the image template).Kolano (talk) 05:09, 16 November 2012 (CET)

Parser functions limit

I increased the limit to 500. Better than removing potentially useful features from our templates, imho. delroth (talk) 22:49, 2 February 2013 (CET)

We'd been debating removing those for a while now. This really just provided an extra reason to do so.Kolano (talk) 23:40, 2 February 2013 (CET)

Video Gallery

Something seems to have recently broken the various video related templates, which now seem to show a blank rather than a preview image. Mainly noticed with YouTube video, not clear if it's related to your recent Video Gallery updates or not. Kolano (talk) 22:13, 30 June 2013 (CEST)

Any page using YouTube videos seems to have the issue for me. For instance:

Here's a screenshot...

File:No video thumbnails.png

Yeah, it's odd. Apparently it is browser specific though, as things seem to show up correctly in Chrome. Maybe you're right that the timing of the HTTPS transition may be more relevant. Actually it does seem odd that I'm not seeing warnings related to mixed content, given that we now seem to mix HTTP and HTTPS requests. Not sure about the other video services, but YouTube will provide HTTPS links, so we should probably swap to using those (regardless if that fixes the thumbnails issue). Kolano (talk) 22:07, 1 July 2013 (CEST)

Seems like Delroth was able to apply a fix. Kolano (talk) 11:32, 2 July 2013 (CEST)

Super Paper Mario

Would it be difficult to get an example of what File:R8PE01-1.png is supposed to look like? Looking at it as someone who has never played the game... it doesn't seem broken to me. A second pic would really help that problem... - MaJoR (talk) 18:59, 7 August 2013 (CEST)

I'll see what I can get there, maybe software video backend help... Jhonn (talk)
Much better. Thanks Jhonn. - MaJoR (talk) 19:59, 7 August 2013 (CEST)

I see you Synced the config of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door with Super Paper Mario, but neither page lists a problem related to that config setting. Could you please provide one that explains the issue addressed by EFB to RAM a bit better? Kolano (talk) 23:51, 17 February 2015 (CET)

Super Paper Mario needs it for animations of most doors and almost all "2D to 3D world" transitions and Paper Mario TTYD needs it for some transitions as well (cabins from the train, for example). Give me some time and I'll get some screenshots to add them at problems section. - Jhonn (talk)

Uh Oh (Global Problem won't delete)

I deleted the controller issues problem from Template:GlobalProblems/Virtual_Console and uh, it's still there. There's no GlobalProblems/VC anymore, and I shift-reloaded several times. I don't know where it's getting it from. HALP! - MaJoR (talk) 06:29, 13 August 2013 (CEST)

I don't see it? It was likely resolved by the time I got here. For templates that are deployed to many pages with different parameters it can take a long time for the Wiki to work through reprocessing them all. Used to irk me when making updates to the infoboxes to generate categories. I'd need to update the template and then come back 15-30min later to see the final outcome. Kolano (talk) 07:13, 13 August 2013 (CEST)

Still there for me, and I've shift-reloaded many times... Tried it on Firefox (I usually use chrome) while signed out, and it was also still there. I deleted the problem, it should be totally blank. - MaJoR (talk) 07:15, 13 August 2013 (CEST)
Hrm, I guess I should have said I don't see it in any pages. I do see it when linking to the template directly. Not clear what's going on there.Kolano (talk) 10:00, 13 August 2013 (CEST)

Wii Network

You've always been the one keeping things maintain with wii network related stuff, like Just Dance series and the like. How familiar are you with it? Delroth has requested documentation on dumping certs and setting up wii network now that the branch has been merged. I can do the documentation myself without too much problem (in theory at least...), but since you've been handling this stuff up till now, do you want to work together on it? I don't know how involved you are with it or how much you want to do. - MaJoR (talk) 00:25, 28 August 2013 (CEST)

Collapsible Sections

I need a little help... I want to make the Forcing the Toshiba Drivers onto the Adapter section collapsible. Specifically, everything under the warning. But I'd like something a little more obvious than what the testing template does. Something that says "click here to expand" or something, bigger and easier to spot. I could probably hunt down some obscure template on wikipedia and implement it, but uh, I'm SWAMPED. Between 4.0 and school kicking back in I'm behind on everything and struggling to keep up. Pleeeeeease do it for me? :D It would save me a ton of time. And you know templates better than I do anyway... - MaJoR (talk) 06:32, 3 September 2013 (CEST)

Uh... the collapsible piece is being ignored on the main page... - https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/wii-remote-plus-rvl-cnt-01-tr-connection-guide/ - MaJoR (talk) 05:38, 7 September 2013 (CEST)

Half of Link revert

Hey, I noticed you reverted the Half of Link issue. You claimed DX9 also had the same issue; could you point out the build of Dolphin where this was the case? --Velocity7 (talk) 05:58, 8 October 2013 (CEST)

  • Hey again Jhonn, I saw your message. The last build that had DX9, 4.0-144 has it working fine, I can post screenshots from the fifo logs I posted in issue 5070 if you'd like. What graphics card are you using? I'm using a GeForce GTX 670 myself. MaJoR1 also confirmed that DX9 was fine as far back as 3.5-6xx. --Velocity7 (talk) 20:20, 8 October 2013 (CEST)

Template vs. Gallery

The reason I went with the <gallery></gallery> formatting instead of the template in G4ME69 and GUBE69 is because the preview was breaking for me for some strange reason. I wasn't sure if that would apply to the live edit after I submitted the changes. Didn't mean to go against Dolphin Wiki conventions and style. Hope you understand. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 20:52, 24 April 2015 (CEST)
