Wave Race 64 (ウエーブレース64 Uēbu Rēsu Rokujūyon) is a racing game for the Nintendo 64 that was released on September 27, 1996 in Japan and on November 5, 1996 in North America. In Wave Race 64 the player races on jet skis in many different weather conditions, on a variety of different courses. The game was sponsored by the Kawasaki Heavy Industries brand, and featured product placement for the Coca-Cola Company brand Fanta. Wave Race 64 was released August 6, 2007 for the Virtual Console in North America; in PAL territories it was released on August 17.

Emulation Information

No Controller Rumble

As was the case in the official Wii Virtual Console release, there is no support for the original Nintendo 64 release's Rumble Pak functionality, even when emulating or connecting a GameCube controller.

This only affects the Japanese release of the game, where it's not widely established in Western sources whether the Japanese Virtual Console release was that of the initial Nintendo 64 version or the Shindou (振動) version.

No Controller Pak Saving

As was the case in the official Wii Virtual Console release, there is no support for the original Nintendo 64 release's Controller Pak functionality.

The Pak was originally used as a backup for the cartridge's internal savefile, and could be brought over to another Nintendo 64 system to compare scores and utilize custom watercraft configurations. None of those things would be necessary on Wii Virtual Console either way, and thus aren't in Dolphin's Virtual Console either.
