Problems
Black void (save corruption)
After saving the game in a room and re-loading a save, Ashley may be in an inescapable black void. This is a serious game-breaking glitch. It seems to be related to the way Dolphin handles save files and also seems randomized (for example, saving in the guesthouse may work fine once, then saving again in the guesthouse may corrupt it later). Known occurrences:
- In the guesthouse before using the TAS for the first time (when getting the charcoal) with Dolphin 4.0-9103.
- In the boathouse with an unknown Dolphin version.
Because save corruption is an issue with this game, it is HIGHLY recommended to do the following:
- ALWAYS save state before saving in-game so that if your save corrupts, you can load your state.
- Get into the habit of saving in multiple areas and keeping multiple save files because the save corruption seems area dependent (so far, it is only known to occur in areas where the camera is behind Ashley's back, so try to save in areas where Ashley has a side profile). For example, if you want to save in a building, make a save inside the building and another save outside the building.
Template:SObject InteractionTemplate:/s
It was not possible to interact with in game objects due to the format of the EFB Textures prior to 3.0-630. Recommend using this version to play the game, (some) later revisions have minor issues with game freezing in (pictures) menus.
"The Texture uses format RGB565 and has plain colors for clickable areas and black for non-clickable areas. In Dolphin, the Texture contains colors such as (0xe, 0, 0xe) and the game doesn't recognize those colors. However, if the colors were (0xf, 0, 0xf), the game would've recognized the colors and the issue would be gone.", refer issue 5405.

Test Entries | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Revision | OS | CPU | GPU | Result | Tester |
r7719 | Windows 7 | Intel Core i5-430M | ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5470 | Very laggy, 15FPS and some graphical glitches. Some gameplay functions won't work preventing advancing in the game. May crash. | |
3.0-630 | Windows 7 | Intel @ 2.9GHz | NVIDIA GeForce 9800 x2 | Game menus work fine, no freezing. Game saves still become corrupt randomly but this can be remedied by using save states or just paying attention to your save screenshots, black or corrupted save pictures indicate corrupt save data. Game is fully playable (using save states) on this revision. Runs at full speed on default settings with AA at 9x SSAA. | Muriel |
3.0-631 | Windows 7 | Intel Q8200 | AMD Radeon HD 6870 | Running Fullspeed and Interaction with Objects is now possible. (no need for a Special Config) | OveR_FloW |
3.0-776 | Windows 7 | Intel @ 2.9GHz | NVIDIA GeForce 9800 x2 | Game saves are broken and bug sporadically. I experienced random freezing in some menus, pictures menu mainly. Game should be rated 4 stars as it is playable but not without some flaws. | Muriel |
3.0-863 | Intel Core i7-965 @ 3.2GHz | ATI Radeon HD 5870 | Another Code R - Wii - Dolphin - 1080p | TheLovinDK | |
4.0-6554 | Windows 7 | Intel Core i7-4770K @ 3.9GHz | AMD Radeon HD 7950 | It still freezes in pictures menu. | GreenAlien |
