Performance Guide Revisions
I've said this before in the general discussion, but after the recent edits I think I should remind everyone that I'm working on a replacement for this guide. Which is why I've been ignoring it despite fixing up and making other guides. Shonumi has created a vastly better guide, and I'm working with him to finish it and port it over here. Just a bit of work left to do to get it ready. It will have ALL options and ALL features. Originally when the performance guide was created, the emulator had tons of options that could speed games up but break tons of things. Now 90% of those are gone, and the fastest configuration is usually the defaults. So the new guide will outline everything that Dolphin can do, and at the end have a section specifically for performance (after saying where everything is and what they do). I'll start putting stuff up on the wiki shortly if you guys want to join in.
Also Jhonn, you kind of screwed me with your style changes to the pics. I have Windows 7, and I need to make an uber guide with a bazillion pics from all over Dolphin. Can we pleeeeeease stick to Windows 7 style for now? Changing everything to the Win8 will make my job much harder. And Windows 7 is still the OS used by the vast majority of Dolphin users, and the OS recommended by the Dolphin homepage... - MaJoR (talk) 23:32, 16 April 2013 (CEST)
:Oh, didn't know that... Ok, we can stick with Windows 7 style (basic style please -- aero just tend to mess up things)... Just give me some time to set a VM and retake the screenshots, they were outdated and had some stretching artefacts, this is why I started updating them... Also, after the guides are finished I can get some time to retake it with Windows 8 if you guys want, but let's stay with Windows 7 style for now - Jhonn (talk)

So we have this page describing settings for maximum performance. Should we add a page regarding settings for maximum graphics quality (AA, Antistropic, Resolution, Filtering, ...)? Kolano (talk) 18:16, 12 January 2014 (CET)

:::::I'm against that. It's best to keep it separate and to the point. If you look at the history on the page, you'll note that there has been TONS of problems with people uploading random settings that make zero sense. It got so bad for so long it just had to be locked. Isolated like this, that can be contained here and leave the rest of the stuff open and available for editing, like what you did on the ripping guide. Besides, we tried merging. The Dolphin Manual fell through.  Yes it's bland, yes it's kind of annoying to keep around (I have always said how much I hate this guide) but this really is the best option. - MaJoR (talk) 08:49, 18 April 2014 (CEST)

::::::I agree with MaJoR. This guide is a mess, and there's no way of improving it (from my point of view). I prefer leaving this messy guide as it is now until something more appropriate is done (like finishing Dolphin Manual), no matter how long it takes... Jhonn (talk)
