Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Square's first game for a Nintendo console since the days of the Super NES, takes the lush fantasy world from the Final Fantasy franchise and adds in hack-and-slash-style four-player action. The game does away with traditional experience points and instead focuses on action-oriented combat with a unique co-op slant. Up to three friends can join in on the quest, by using Game Boy Advance units connected to the GameCube as controllers. While all the main action takes place on the screen, the GBAs enable the players to access menus, organize their spell spheres, and perform upgrades without slowing down the action. The initial release of this game included a GBA Cable to allow players instant access to the game.
Problems
Multiplayer Support via VBA
Multiplayer support via Visual Boy Advance connectivity works. But is very slow even with only a single instance of VBA-M connected. Refer issue 3177.
To set up multiplayer with VBA-M, follow these steps.
- Download the latest VBA-M svn.
- Dump your gba_bios.bin, and enable it in VBA-M (Options > Emulator > Bios Files)
- Disable "Pause when inactive" in VBA-M (Options > Emulator)
- In the Dolphin configuration, go to the "Gamecube" tab and select "GBA" for port 2
- Start the game in Dolphin and go to a dungeon
- In VBA-M, go to Options > Link > Joybus Options and type "127.0.0.1"
- When you press ok, Dolphin should freeze (this is normal)
- Now load the gba_bios.bin, in the same way you would load a normal gba-game (File > Open GBA)
- Enable Turbo Mode in VBA (Options > Speed > Turbo Mode), otherwise the game will run at ~8% speed
- Now just wait until it connects. It may take a while, but this is normal
- You can use a VBA-M savestate to make it connect faster next time
Audio Problems
The game's music often becomes distorted after playing a few hours and on slower computers the music can become desynchronized. Fixed by the New-AX-HLE 2.0 merger in 3.5-1154.

r7367 | Windows XP | AMD Athlon II X2 215 @ 3.45GHz | nVidia GeForce 7025 | Game doesn't go after intro cutscene - constantly showing some book. No audio in intro. White squares in menu. | †.fl.l). |
r7482 | Windows 7 x64 | AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE @ 3.4GHz | AMD Radeon HD 6850 | Works playable, some slowdowns at the intro | Digital hunter |

r7505 | Windows 7 x64 | Intel Pentium T4300 @ 2.1GHz | ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 | Only Black screen still no matter what settings | WordsMyth |
r7571 | Windows XP x86 | Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz | nVidia GeForce GTX 260 | NTSC version stutters occasionally during cutscenes, otherwise beautiful under DX9. PAL version gives the same black screen issues other testers have. | nykotik |
r7617 | Windows 7 x64 | AMD Athlon II X4 630 @ 2.8GHz | nVidia GeForce GTX 460 | Works with the dx9 graphics plugin but not with the dx11 | ChaosGiant |
r7717 | Windows 7 x64 | Intel Core i5-2410M @ 2.3GHz | nVidia GeForce GT 540M | Similar to an earlier entry on an nVidia card, game freezes on a book in the intro. No audio. White squares replace text. Only PAL version tested. | LtCaptain |
3.0-167 | Windows 7 x64 | AMD Phenom II 965 BE @ 3.7GHz | nVidia GeForce 560 Ti | Work great. No issues using DX11 Renderer | Hellbringer616 |
3.0-226 | Windows 7 x64 | AMD Tricore | AMD Radeon | NTSC version works playable and fine, PAL version gives the same black screen issues other testers have. | Lob3zNo |

3.5-420 | Windows 8 x64 | Intel Core i5 @ 2.4GHz | nVidia GeForce 310M | Almost no problems, just the connection with VBA is slow. audio distortion only appears after playing a long time and can be resolved by making a savestate and restarting the emulation. | Nar |
3.5-1250 | Windows 7 x64 | Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66GHz | nVidia GeForce 9600GT | No audio anymore (unless "DSP on Dedicated Thread" is enabled). Connection with VBA is still slow. | Nar |
4.0 | Windows | Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 @ 3.4GHz | AMD Radeon HD 6950 | FF Crystal Chronicles HD Widescreen Hack | Spartacus |
4.0.2 | Windows 7 x64 | Intel Core i7-4960X @ 4.6GHz | nVidia GeForce 780 Ti | Constant 100% (NTSC Version ONLY), using Dolphin recommended settings, DX11 (OpenGL causes graphical glitches), 4 x Internal and 8 x AA (no quantity levels). Just finished the game without any problems at all. **Point of Interest; Using AR Codes in Towns/Villages may cause Dolphin to crash ** | himalayan |
