Mario Party 4 (マリオパーティ) is the fourth installment in the Mario Party series and the first to be released for Nintendo GameCube. The game features eight playable characters from the Mario series, who can be directed on six themed game boards in the game. The objective of the game is to earn as many stars as possible, which are obtained by purchase from predefined space on the game board, or by bonuses. Each character's movement is determined by a roll of a die, with a roll from each player forming a single turn. Each turn in Mario Party 4 is followed by a mini-game, which is competed to earn money for the character, used to buy items and stars.
Problems
Distorted Text Boxes
The texture for the text backdrop will become heavily distorted if anisotropic filtering or "Force Texture Filtering" are enabled. This affects both Direct3D and OpenGL.
Configuration

Testing
This title has been tested on the environments listed below:
Test Entries | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Revision | OS | CPU | GPU | Result | Tester |
r2953 | Windows XP x86 | Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.13GHz | nVidia GeForce 7600 GT | Runs great, the mini games work, the speed is playable and there are no graphical problems to see really. Working 100%, just not full speed. Mario Party 4 on Dolphin Wii/GC Emulator (HQ) | iNexXxuS |
3.0-735 | Windows 7 x64 | Intel Core i7-2700K @ 3.5GHz | nVidia GeForce GTX 580 | Playable with full speed and audio issues with HLE. LLE stutters the game down to 75% FPS. | Drezus |
3.5-78 | Windows 7 x64 | Intel Core i5-2500k | AMD Radeon HD 6870 | Mario Party 4 is very playable with the latest AX HLE revision. Game plays at full speed with no audio issues whatsoever on this revision using HLE. | Gumphrey |
^3.0-364 | Windows 7 x64 | Intel Core i5 @ 2.9GHz | Intel HD Graphics 3000 | Runs at 54-60 FPS at 2X Native Resolution, 4X Anisotropic Filtering, & Direct 3D 11 Video Backend | Ace013 |
4.0-648 | Windows 7 x64 | Intel Core i7-3770K | AMD Radeon HD 7850 | Used branch dc-netplay. Runs perfectly. 60 FPS at all times. Disable anisotropic filtering to correct text box error. | Serris |
^3.0-777 | Windows 7 x86 | Intel Core i3-2120 @ 3.3GHz | nVidia GeForce GT 620 | No board squares issues,after few turns,which I seen on Dolphin 3.5 and all newer versions.Minor sound issues makes its presence felt on the,but only from 4.0 version sound is correct,by the way.Using XAudio2 backend is best choice.Doesn't matter,which graphics backend You use,all works fine there.OpenGL is best for me.All other settings leave at default.And I strongly recommend to not use DSP LLE sound engine,to avoid game slowdown or crashing. | neosapiens |
