Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I is a platforming video game released for the Wii's WiiWare service. It was co-developed by Sonic Team and Dimps, and is the latest installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Sonic 4 picks up right where Sonic and Knuckles left off. With Eggman finally defeated, Sonic runs off to explore new zones and uncharted lands. Dr. Eggman, furious at the destruction of the Death Egg and the failure of his plans, puts all of his most devious schemes into action. In an effort to finally rid himself of Sonic, he revisits – and improves – the very best of his creations.
Gameplay
The game features enhanced gameplay elements, including the classic Sonic Spin Dash, and the versatile Homing Attack. It is similar to the classic Sega Genesis/Mega Drive versions of of the series, but with a 2.5 graphics makeover. Players control Sonic, running, jumping, and defeating baddies through levels at high speeds. They may also use power-ups such as the iconic speed-dash shoes and the invincibility. The game also features special stages where the player must go through a maze, based on the special stages from the original Sonic the Hedgehog, to find the seven Chaos Emeralds.
