Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, released in Japan as Paper Mario RPG, is a console role-playing game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo GameCube. The Thousand-Year Door is the fourth game in the Mario RPG series and the second in the Paper Mario series.
Problems
Professor Frankly's Gate
The gate outside Professor Frankly's house turns into a cyan block, and then disappears when he is opening it to show you the Thousand-Year Door
Dance with the Invisible Princess
When TEC asks you to dance with the hologram of the Princess (end of Chapter 2), the hologram appears only if the EFB Copy is set to Texture.
Fuzzy Punies
In the Great Boggly Tree, all the Punies except for Punio, the Punie Elder, Punio's sister, and the fat puni will have strange effects and clones caused by rendering issues, which makes the Punies have a fuzzy look.
Sound Issues
Sometimes the background music isn't played or the L and/or R channels get desynced or muted. In extreme cases all sound in the game mutes, requiring you to restart the emulator to get the sound working again. DSP LLE should resolve these sound issues.
Crash in Chapter 2
In recent revisions (post 3.0-188), when you enter the Great Boggly Tree, Dolphin crashes due to a bug in the Bounding Box emulation. The current workarounds are using a revision older than 3.0-188 (however you'll get a lot of GFX issues, due to the lack of Bounding Box emulation on older revisions) or disabling BBox, entering the Great Boggly Tree, saving, and then enabling BBox again. This issue was fixed in 3.0-508.
Unknown Pointer Errors
When entering the sewers (in the Prologue), the game crashes with "unknown pointer". This issue was fixed in 3.0-191.
Hatched Yoshi's Gulp Prior to 3.0
Upon acquiring the Yoshi partner in Glitz Arena, the Yoshi is required to complete the next fight against the Iron Clefts using his Gulp ability. However, the Action Command for it needs to be performed, but it does not work properly. It requires you to hold R and then release it upon reaching the end of a meter. The meter never fills, briefly flashes a full meter, and then fails. This pattern occurs regardless of the mapped input and pattern of pressing R. Unfortunately, you cannot advance further in the game if you experience this glitch. This issue was fixed in 3.0.
Invisible X-Naut squad
In the Prologue, when Lord Crump says "It's go time!" at the docks, many X-Nauts run onto the screen. However, they are invisible and only their shadows are shown (refer issue 4026). This issue was fixed in 3.0-188.
Paper Transition Effect Issues
When the boat arrives in Rogueport and flips around, the transition effect is replaced with a large blue silhouette of the boat. Similarly, when entering or exiting pipes, a large silhouette of Mario and his partner appears on the screen. These issues were fixed in 3.0-188.
Disappearing Punio/Invisible Punie Problem
In the Great Boggly Tree in Chapter 2, there are two adjacent cells (one contains the Punie elder, the other contains 90 Punies). After receiving the red key to open the elder's cell and attempt to open it, Punio will disappear and leave the screen stuck zoomed-in, hindering any further progress in the game. This was fixed in 3.0-188.
Glitchy Toad/Pianta Problem
Near the end of Chapter 5 (right after the boss fight against Cortez), you are forced to blow your way out of the Pirate's Grotto in the area before Lord Crump which is filled with Toads and the Pianta lovers. The Toads (like the Punies in chapter 2) are invisible (only their shadows are visible). When you blow through the crack in the wall with Bobbery, a cutscene plays and the Toad next to the hole attempts to leave the cave, suggesting everyone else do the same. This problem seems to vary depending on the specific build of Dolphin used, but during the "escape sequence", one of the visible characters will suddenly start glitching back and forth and will prevent you from progressing any further (Mario can't be controlled until all the others have escaped). This issue was fixed in 3.0-188.
