Be a good cop or a bad cop in the streetwise action game True Crime: New York City. You can explore the authentically modeled streets of New York City as a police officer tracking down criminals and administering justice. The game features a diverse weapon set, as well as a mixed offering of fighting styles that you can use to take out those who stand in your way. In addition to combat on foot, the game features driving sequences and shootouts. Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Walken, and Mickey Rourke contribute their voice talent to the game as well.
Emulation Information
16:9
True Crime: New York City has a native 16:9 display option, but it requires enabling it in its internal options and setting Dolphin's Aspect Ratio graphics setting to "Force 16:9". Using the widescreen hack with this title is not recommended.
Bomb Disposal Audio Glitches
When completing "Bomb Disposal" side missions, the game will have severe audio issues and a loud stutter. This is correct emulation and happens on console. For more information on how the bug behaves and proof it happens on console refer issue 12627.
Old Broadway Crash
Near Old Broadway and 125th street, the game has a very high chance of locking up. This issue has been reproduced on console and is not an issue with Dolphin.
Random Hangs
This game randomly hangs when entering interiors, especially when played on Nintendo Wiis. Due to other issues with the game, it is unknown if Dolphin behaves more like a GameCube or Wii with this issue.
Save Corruption
This game can corrupt your memory card. Play with caution.
Erratic Framerate
This game's framerate is erratic and extremely inconsistent, even on console. This can make driving extremely difficult, as at lower framerates the game will ignore or delay inputs. By increasing the emulated CPU clock, you can make the game more demanding but increase the framerate to the point of actually making driving reasonable.
Flickering Graphics
Decals, shadows, textures and more flicker in this game. Specular lighting effects when indoors will also flicker similarly. This happens on console.
Taxi Softlock
If you call a Taxi during the Intro mission, the game will softlock.
State Highway Levitation Issue
When driving Northbound on the State Highway, the highway will jitter and eventually sync far below the actual collision detection of the road. Turning your car or camera can result in wild collision detection issues and you can even get thrown out of bounds. You may also sink into the ground on other parts of the highway. This is also normal and happens on console.
Out of Bounds Issues
When walking into any corner, you may get thrown out of bounds. This is normal and happens on console.
Missing Textures in Central Park
Patches of grass and other textures are completely missing, allowing you to see through the ground in points of Central Park. This is normal and happens on console.
NPCs Flickering/Disappearing
In indoor areas, NPCs will constantly flicker and zip around, especially in tight spaces. For example, they will show an animation to sit in one chair and then appear in another. This is normal and occurs on console.
There is a chance that the directional controls won't work properly in the main menu. If this occurs, restart the game to make the problem go away.
High-pitched Cutscene Sound
In-engine cutscenes have a high-pitched sound (at around 6320 Hz). This happens on console. Pre-rendered cutscenes are not affected.
Problems
Crashing
This game uses a Custom Floating Point Exception Handler, which Dolphin does not support setting up. As such, the game will crash with NaN issues that wouldn't cause an issue on console. Due to this, the tutorial mission is nearly unplayable, as you're forced to stand on physics objects which trigger the bug. In order to avoid the issue, you can use a glitch to walk through walls and at least reach the main game. Fixed by 5.0-15330.
