We're going to get support for both discs soon!  Unfortunately, the channel they install still won't work.  We install to a virtual USB device, so, there's no need for the SD card stuff.  Is it 1, 2 or 4 stars if the Discs both work perfectly (aside from hanging on installation finish,) but we don't support the channel they install, which actually launches the MMO itself. ==To Dos ==

*We need a few additional title pages here. One for each update and one for the All in One combo pack.

*We need to document the creation of 16GB+ sdcard files and link to that documentation from here. I think there may be a 32GB limit on them /w the Wii, but I'm not sure.

*Revise config settings to ones compatible with the games install (i.e. insert SD card, etc.)

*Not sure we have a Japaneses contact able to see if network functionality works out.

== Major's Research ==

Ooookay, this was brought up in the channel and I've been doing some research on it, and Dragon Quest X is a VERY weird game! Apparently they did all kinds of nutty things to get a modern MMO to work on the wii...

* This specific game (Dragon Quest X: Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Online) is the base version of dragon quest X. [http://www.gametdb.com/Wii/S4SJGD Dragon Quest X: Nemureru Yuusha to Michibiki no Meiyuu Online] is an expansion of dragon quest X and is not a stand alone game. In addition to these, there is the [http://www.gametdb.com/Wii/S6TJGD All in One] retail package that contains the base game and the expansion. And then one additional update [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Quest_X Inishie no Ryuu no Denshou Online (いにしえの竜の伝承 オンライン ?, lit. "Lore of the Ancient Dragon Online")].

* The base game comes on two discs, making it the only two disc wii game we know of. And bizarrely the discs are apparently 4.1GB and 1.6GB in size, so they could have used a dual layer disc and didn't. A dual layer disc is cheaper than two discs so... *shrug*. The expansion probably uses the base game's play disc and will probably be a single disc. But the All in One is almost definitely two discs, and probably dual layer as well.

* It uses a totally proprietary online system that allows play between Wii, Wii U, and Windows. And apparently it is still online, though IP blocked so only Japanese players can play.

* The game apparently installs to the SD card or an HDD, and requires 16GB or more of storage space. And it can download more data through the internet from there. It is unknown whether v1 can be updated to v2, or if the expansion disc is required for v2. Since there is a separate retail package for v2 and the all in one... probably not.

* A second expansion is coming out in April of this year.

* The game comes with IOS59 and requires it to operate. Since IOS58 is the big USB/SD card update that allows NTFS drives and faster SD speeds, it is probable that IOS59 is an update that allows the game to install to SD card and run from SD card in the manner that it does. No one in -dev knew anything about IOS59 when I asked. Because of all of this and how recent it is (2012), it is very unlikely that Dolphin will work with this game, as the testing entry shows.

Soooooo. I have no idea how to handle this. This is like nothing else on the wiki! Wikipedia puts everything onto a single "Dragon Quest X" page, and that might be a good route for us... what do you guys think? - [[User:MayImilae|MayImilae]] ([[User talk:MayImilae|talk]]) 06:45, 24 February 2015 (CET)

: Not sure yet, but I think I'd lean toward capturing these different releases on different pages. I have a feeling the specifics of getting the different releases to work with Dolphin may be enough to merit separate descriptions. Also wondering on the subject of IOS59 if we should have some better coverage of the different releases (here's WiiBrews notes on IOS59 with links to others: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/IOS59). I seem to recall this coming up previously with some game or the other, perhaps one of the Metroids, which was packaged with a newer IOS? Though perhaps it wasn't as dependent on it as Dragon Quest X is.

::So, no movement here in most of a year. Still seems like we need to move this page to "Dragon Quest X: Nemureru Yuusha" and add a new page to cover the online add-on and the likely problems getting such installed in Dolphin (oh, and perhaps some coverage somewhere, though not here, of the different IOS revisions). New Information
