FIFA Soccer 2005, also known as FIFA Football 2005, FIFA 2005 or simply FIFA 05, is a football video game released in 2004. The tagline for the game was: "A great player needs a great first touch." FIFA 2005 was the twelfth game in the FIFA series, the ninth in 3D. FIFA Soccer 2005 gives you more control than ever with improved button and control sensitivity and an intuitive Off the Ball Control. Now you can take command of players not in possession of the ball by calling in tackles, jostling for space, and sending your teammates on runs as you control the pitch. With more than 350 official team and league licenses from around the world, an enhanced Career mode, and an improved broadcast, FIFA Soccer 2005 gives you a complete and authentic soccer experience.
Problems
VP6 Videos
FIFA Soccer 2005 uses the VP6 video codec, common in Electronic Arts' titles, causing its videos to have vertical line artifacts and other glitches on many graphics cards. The Software Render will display VP6 video correctly, but is typically too slow. VP6 rendering also reacts poorly to the Force Texture Filtering enhancements (and Anisotropic Filtering on NVIDIA), causing further scrambling. See issue 7193. In 5.0-15515 or newer, this can be fixed with "Manual Texture Sampling" in the Graphics Settings → Advanced menu.
Configuration
Only configuration options for the best compatibility where they deviate from defaults are listed.
Graphics
Config | Setting | Notes |
---|---|---|
Manual Texture Sampling | On | Render VP6 video |
