007: NightFire is a first-person shooter video game featuring the character of the British secret agent James Bond and a sequel to Agent Under Fire, published by Electronic Arts in 2002. NightFire was developed by Eurocom for the PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, and Xbox video game consoles. Gearbox Software developed the game for Windows using the GoldSRC engine, which Aspyr later re-released for the Mac. The computer versions are substantially different from the console versions, featuring different missions and a modified story line. In 2003 Electronic Arts released NightFire for the Game Boy Advance this time developed by JV Games.

Problems

Crashes

On 3.0-716: The game boots alright, and goes into menus even. But on starting New Game, it crashes after the loading screen.

Also, the game crashes shortly after the beginning of mission "Enemies Vanquished" in HLE Sound Emulation. To circumvent this, use LLE Sound Emu but beware this slows down that mission considerably. You could also use the 3.0-844 new ax HLE (http://dolphin-emu.org/download/list/new-ax-hle/1/) that avoids the crash. (See issue 5757)

Lag

On 3.0-772: Single Player lags when looking at characters / when characters are in view. When the code cache clears it fixes itself, just not for long. See "Testing" for the test that brought this up.

Movies

Movies from the first mission (Paris Prelude) are shown incorrectly with black and white garbage in the top portion of the screen. The first movie in Alpine Escape suffers from the same issue, and probably more movies as well. (See issue 5755 & issue 5046)

Testing

This title has been tested on the environments listed below:

Test Entries
Revision OS CPU GPU Result Tester
3.0-418 Windows 7 x86 Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 3GHz ATI Radeon HD 5750 Game playable ~55 FPS RootKernel
3.0-772 Windows 8 x64 Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.2GHz nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ MP playable at ~60 FPS, 100% speed. SP lagging when characters are in view. When the code cache clears it seems to fix itself and you get back at 60 FPS, 100% speed. Omar007
3.0-840 Windows 7 x64 Intel i5 2500K @ 3.7GHz nVidia GeForce GTX 580 Game playable at full speed both with HLE and LLE Sound Emulation in Single Player and Multiplayer modes. Few slowdowns are not noticeable if not monitoring speed % in OSD. Black and white garbage is shown instead of the correct videos in "Paris Prelude" and "Alpine Escape". Only noticeable slowdowns I've experienced is in Paris Prelude while sniping in the helicopter, which becomes considerably worse in LLE Sound Emu. FrankJaeger
