Both video backends may render parts of the HUD and certain text elements off-screen. Only some areas are affected by this and other areas are not affected at all. The OpenGL backend is reported as being affected less. This happens because the HUD is slightly behind the camera, so turning on "Free Look" in the Advanced tab in Graphics will allow you to move the camera back behind the HUD.
