Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II features two games in one. Episode I gives you all the hit content and gameplay from the original PSO and PSO ver.2. Episode II brings an all-new full-length adventure in which you'll face real-time combat with enemies that are more powerful than ever before. New levels, like the breath-taking mountain and beach stages, give you expanded areas of gameplay and deep, lush worlds to explore. You'll also be given all-new quests to complete, additional weapons to master, and lots more rare items to find. Choose your character from the original three classes, each with a fourth new being. For intense offline gameplay, team up or compete with up to three of your fellow Hunters on the same console for a split-screen battle.
Problems
Calendar
Syncing the calendar causes the game to crash. Despite what the game indicates when first run, one can play the game normally without the calendar; so when prompted to sync it at the beginning of the game, simply select "no" to proceed.
Black Video
Scenes that play pre-rendered video appear black unless the External Frame Buffer is enabled and set to Real and Scaled EFB Copy is disabled. Setting the Internal Resolution to 1x reduces image shaking.
Template:SMissing Characters in TextTemplate:/s
All versions of the game may have missing characters in various game text, per issue 30. Such can be resolved by setting accurate texture case towards a "safe" setting, though it's unclear what setting is necessary. Position 2 (middle) seems to work fine, though there may be one or two missing letters every once in a long while.
Template:SWhite Box in D3DTemplate:/s
In the D3D backend the camera is somehow too far back, creating a large white box that covers the screen. If you use shift+W to zoom in to the camera's normal position past the white block, the game will be fully playable. Alternatively, just use OpenGL, as it does not suffer from this problem. See issue 6268. Fixed in 4.0-3748.
