Drome Racers is a multi-terrain racing experience that will leave young speedsters breathless. Players take on the role of Max Axel who has trained intensely for the challenging Drome Championship and wants to take home the trophy.
Getting behind the wheel of high-tech cars based on the 2002 LEGO Racers construction toy range, players must face tough Multi-Challenge Races (MCR's). Each race is a seamless set of stages, mixing tracks with realistically stunning city, mountain and canyon environments. Unlike its predecessors, Drome Racers is a fast-paced "anything goes" game that will appeal to all ages and abilities with its varied, realistic terrains; sleek, LEGO Technic style cars; and road, off-road or drag racing.
Emulation Information
16:9
Drome Racers has a native 16:9 display option, but it requires enabling it in its internal options and setting Dolphin's Aspect Ratio graphics setting to "Auto". Using the widescreen hack with this title is not recommended.
Text/Dialogue Desyncs
Voice acting will lag behind or shoot ahead of the text boxes that show their actual lines. This is a game bug and is normal.
Inconsistent Loading Screens
Loading screens in Dolphin run uncapped and are very erratic. It is recommended to keep vsync off, or else loads will take a very long time. The same thing happens on console as well.
Video Decoding Issue
The game's THP decoder seems to have a bug that causes vertical artifacts in patterns of 8x8 pixels. This happens on real hardware. It can be partially fixed with this patch:

Test Entries | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Revision | OS | CPU | GPU | Result | Tester |
4.0 | Windows | Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 @ 3.4 GHz | AMD Radeon HD 6950 | Drome Racers HD Widescreen Hack | Spartacus |
4.0 | Windows | Intel Core i5-4690K @ 3.9 GHz | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 | Locked to 30FPS. Game runs perfectly without any special settings. V-sync causes loading times to increase drastically. | Alcom1 |
4.0-9469 | Windows 10 | Intel Core i5-3570K @ 3.8 GHz | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 | Even the bugs from the original game are emulated correctly. Vsync needs to be off as the loading screens run uncapped, even on console. | JMC4789 |
5.0-4705 | Windows 7 | Intel Core i5-2400 | Intel HD 2000 | Entire game is locked at 30 FPS. No major slowdowns ingame. With V-sync disabled, all loading screens cause unusual behaviour outside of the game, including jitters and laggy video. | Mattie |
